Introduction to Solar PV

With the huge increases in energy consumption in the world - and the ever increasing CO2 emissions - we are fast approaching a situation where our regular sources of energy (coal, gas, oil) are becoming unsustainable.
Now is the time to make the necessary changes in the way that we consume energy. Now is the time for Solar PV.
Solar Photovoltaics, or Solar PV for short, is a technology in which daylight is converted into electrical power.
It uses energy from the sun to create electricity that will operate electrical appliances and lighting.
Solar PV requires only daylight, not necessarily sunlight, and is therefore capable of generating electricity on cloudy
days. Solar PV works equally well in urban or rural locations. It can be installed on the roof of most buildings that can
support the equipment and can be connected to a building’s electricity supply... which is where our Renewables team
come in!
